Professional experience

Steve has more than 30 years of commercial real estate experience in various disciplines. Prior to joining BWE, Steve worked at Wells Fargo Commercial Mortgage for 21 years as Managing Director/Loan Officer. During this tenure, he placed over $6 Billion of multifamily and commercial mortgages with numerous third-party capital sources. Sources were selected based on solutions in line with a property owner’s business plan. Steve has strong relationships with numerous life insurance companies with whom he has placed non-recourse, long-term fixed-rate debt. Additionally, he has originated loans with agency, CMBS, Credit Tenant Lease (CTL), banks, and bridge lenders.

Prior to Wells Fargo and its predecessor banks, Steve worked for Lend Lease (formerly Equitable Real Estate) in their mortgage origination and workout group for the Northeast Region (DC through Boston). In addition, he assisted in asset management and acquisitions as part of a larger team.

In the early portion of his career, Steve worked as a commercial property appraiser for a predecessor company to Newmark Knight and Frank.

Product Expertise

Significant insurance company placement experience as well as agency, CMBS, bridge, bank, CTL, and debt fund lenders. Expertise in traditional property types including multifamily, industrial, retail, office, and hotels plus niche property types such as manufactured housing, self-storage, agriculture, and Co-Ops. In addition, Steve has placed CTL loans with the leading lenders in this space. Placement assignments have been geographically diverse with a concentration on the East and West Coasts as well as numerous other states throughout the US.
