Professional experience

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, James “Jimbo” Tanner currently serves as the Executive Vice President of BWE’s Raleigh office. He began his mortgage banking career in 1993, and since that time, he has specialized almost exclusively in the origination, processing, and servicing of FHA-insured project loans. He has been particularly active using the FHA Section 221(d)(4), 232, 223(f) and 223(a)(7) programs. These loans have encompassed a wide array of residential housing types, and have employed a large variety of funding sources, including FNMA, GNMA, Taxable and Tax-Exempt bonds, HOME, CDBG, and Historic and Low-Income Housing Tax Credits.
