Professional experience
Emily has 26 years of experience in the commercial mortgage banking industry and has structured and closed more than $11 billion of debt and equity transactions. Prior to joining BWE in January 2022, Emily was Vice President at Phillips Realty Capital. She joined the Phillips organization in 1998.
Emily is responsible for assisting owners in structuring the entire capital stack of their commercial real estate transactions, including raising permanent, acquisition, and construction debt and equity. In her role, she is responsible for all aspects of underwriting and closing commercial real estate transactions. Emily has a strong reputation among borrowers and lenders in managing and executing complex transactions. In addition to her role on the production side of commercial real estate, Emily has experience managing a loan servicing portfolio of approximately $2.7 billion.
Emily earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1998 from Wake Forest University. She subsequently earned her Master of Science in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins University in 2003.
Emily has been a member of the Commercial Real Estate Finance Council for the Mortgage Bankers Association of Metropolitan Washington, D.C. She is a former Chairman of the council and former Board Member of the Mortgage Bankers Association of Metropolitan Washington. She also participated in the Mortgage Bankers Association of America Future Leaders Program in 2003.
Emily is a mother to three children and is active in their schools, serving roles as Treasurer of the PTA in two schools. She is also an advisory board member to the Zeta Omicron Kappa Alpha Theta chapter at Wake Forest University and participates in mentor events to Wake Forest University students.
