Professional experience
Derek Hobson is an Assistant Vice President in the San Diego office of BWE. Since 2013, Derek has structured, underwritten, and closed loan transactions totaling more than $1 billion on behalf of borrowers. Capital sources include correspondent life insurance companies, commercial banks, CMBS lenders, pension funds, and government agencies, including Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Derek has arranged permanent, bridge and construction financing on a broad range of property types, including multifamily, industrial, self-storage, office, retail, marinas, and hospitality, with loan sizes ranging from $1 million to $100+ million. Mr. Hobson started his mortgage banking career in San Diego with Grandbridge Real Estate Capital.

Derek is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economic History. During this time, Derek was three-time All-Ivy League for the Men’s Soccer Team.
