Professional experience

Cooper has more than 34 years of commercial real estate experience as both a finance professional and investor. Prior to its combination with BWE in June of 2015, Cooper was president and co-owner of Capital Advisors, Inc., a mortgage banking firm headquartered in Charlotte with eight offices throughout the southeast. Cooper had been with Capital Advisors since the firm’s inception in 1994. Prior to Capital Advisors, Cooper was with First Union Mortgage Corporation (formerly the Cameron Brown Company).

During his career, Cooper has originated more than 600 transactions totaling more than $4.5 billion and has been the recipient of numerous production awards, including being named the top mortgage banker in the country for multiple insurance companies. In addition to his responsibilities at BWE, Cooper is president of Atlantic Beach, Incorporated, a real estate investment company founded in 1944.

Education

Cooper is a graduate of North Carolina State University, Poole College of Management and holds a B.A. in Business Management with a dual concentration in Finance and Marketing. He also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2016.
