Professional experience

Bill Beckmann serves as Chairman of the BWE Board of Directors. With a distinguished career spanning leadership roles in financial services, housing policy, and mortgage industry standards, Bill brings a wealth of expertise to this position.

Before joining the BWE Board, Bill was Chief Financial Officer at Enterprise Community Partners for two years. He previously spent over a decade serving on the boards of Enterprise Community Partners, Enterprise Community Investments, and the Enterprise Loan Fund, including time on the Finance, Risk, and Executive committees.

Bill also acted as Senior Advisor to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Deputy Secretary, advising on housing policy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Before his work with HUD, Bill was CEO of MERSCORP Holdings, Inc. (MERS), the industry utility that serves as a digital registry and mortgagee for 80% of U.S. residential mortgages. He also chaired the board of MISMO, the standard-setting body for the mortgage industry.

Earlier in his career, Bill held prominent roles including CEO of CitiMortgage and CEO and Chairman of the NYSE-traded Student Loan Corporation, which was the third-largest student loan lender and servicer in the U.S. at the time. He also held various finance and management roles at IBM, Quotron Systems, CitiCards, and European American Bank.

He resides in St. Louis with his wife, and they have two grown children.
